How to connect your LinkedIn account

One button. You go to LinkedIn, grant the permission, and come back with the account connected. Then you publish from the editor, with a caption written for LinkedIn.

Before you start

Nothing is needed on the other side: your usual LinkedIn account is enough. No company page, no app to create, no review to pass.

One thing is worth knowing before you press it: the piece is published as you, on your profile, not on your company page. LinkedIn treats those as different authors, and today we publish as whoever authorized the connection.

Step by step

  1. 01
Open Your account and go to NetworksInstagram and LinkedIn come first, because those are the two that publish. If the LinkedIn tile says Coming soon, the connection has not reached your account yet: we are enabling it gradually.
  2. 02
Press Connect on the LinkedIn tileWe send you to LinkedIn. If you are not signed in there, LinkedIn asks for your email and password on its own screen. The Agentcy never sees them.
  3. 03
Grant the permissionLinkedIn shows exactly what you are giving: your basic profile, which is how we show your name and confirm you connected the account you meant, and posting on your behalf, which is what sends the piece out when you press Publish.
  4. 04
LinkedIn sends you back to NetworksThe return is automatic and there is nothing to copy. The LinkedIn tile shows your name and the date it was connected.

It takes about twenty seconds and happens once. Every permission decision happens on LinkedIn, on LinkedIn's screen, with your session.

What gets published

A document is read page by page rather than scrolled, so each slide has to close on its own. Ask your agent for the LinkedIn caption separately from the Instagram one: the first line is the hook, because LinkedIn hides the rest behind see more.

A single slideGoes out as an image, the same as if you uploaded it yourself.
Two or more slidesGoes out as a document: a PDF with one page per slide, which LinkedIn renders with arrows and a page counter. That is the LinkedIn carousel, and it is the format a sequence of slides deserves.
The ceilingTwenty slides per piece, more than the ten of an Instagram carousel. A long piece Instagram rejects can go out whole on LinkedIn.
The captionThe LinkedIn one, up to 3000 characters. It is not the Instagram one: every network keeps its own on the piece.

The Publish dialog lets you tick Instagram and LinkedIn at once. Each goes out with its own caption and its own format, in the same run. Direct publishing is part of Studio; on Basic the path is Download.

What we store, and for how long

What we keep is the permission LinkedIn granted, encrypted on the server. It never leaves it and we never show it back to you: it is used when publishing and for nothing else. Your LinkedIn password never passes through The Agentcy.

The permission lasts 60 days and LinkedIn does not renew it on its own, so the tile warns you when fewer than fifteen days are left and the way out is Reconnect, which opens the same screen as the first time. One click, same as before.

To end it, press Disconnect on the LinkedIn tile: we delete the permission on our side immediately. LinkedIn offers no way to revoke it from outside, so if you also want to remove our access from your account, do it in LinkedIn's permitted services.

If something fails

You cancelled on LinkedInNetworks says you didn't grant the permission, so nothing was connected. Nothing was saved on either side. Press Connect again whenever you want.
You took too longThe message says the connection took too long and expired, and to start again. The trip to LinkedIn is valid for ten minutes, so a tab left open needs a fresh start from the button.
The connection expiredNetworks tells you how many days are left and, at zero, that scheduled pieces won't go out. The way out is Reconnect, the same button as the first time.
The piece has more than twenty slidesThat is the document ceiling. The piece goes out through Download, which also gives you better resolution.
The LinkedIn caption is missingThe button stays disabled until it is written. You write it in the Publish dialog itself, with the 3000-character counter in view, and if the Instagram one exists there is a shortcut to borrow it and edit from there.
The tile says Coming soonThe connection is rolling out per account. Until yours is enabled, the piece goes out through Download: you get the images or the PDF and upload them yourself, with the caption already written on the piece.
