How to import your brand from Figma

Connect your Figma account once, paste the link to your file, and we propose the colors, fonts, and logos of your design system.

Before you start

You need a Figma account that can open the file, and the file link. The connection happens once: Connect Figma takes you to Figma, you authorize The Agentcy to read your files and your name, and you come back. From then on you import by pasting only the link, as often as you like, in the onboarding and in Your account.

The file has to be a design file, not a FigJam board. Any file your account can open works: yours, your team's, or one shared with you.

Step by step

  1. 01
Connect FigmaIn the onboarding, the brand step has a From Figma tab; in Your account, Brand, it is the Import menu. Press Connect Figma: it takes you to Figma, you authorize with your account, and you come back to the same screen with Figma connected and your name next to it.
  2. 02
Copy the file linkOpen the file in Figma and copy the address from the browser bar. Both forms work: figma.com/design/... and the older figma.com/file/.... The page or node in the link does not matter, we read the whole file.
  3. 03
Paste the link and importPaste the link in the field and press Import from Figma. There is nothing else to paste: the read runs with the account you connected.
  4. 04
Review the proposalIt takes up to forty seconds: we read the file's styles and components and export the logos. What comes back is the same grid as a website: colors, fonts, and logos with a bin to remove the ones that are not yours.
  5. 05
ContinueIn the onboarding, Continue saves the kit with the logos that stayed on screen. In Your account, the primary applies the proposal over your current brand.

You can repeat it as often as you like. Each read replaces the previous proposal, never the brand you already saved.

What gets imported, and what does not

ColorsEvery solid fill in the file, weighted by the size of the element that uses it. A fill that references a color style, like Brand/Primary, counts three times more: that is a decision, not a button.
FontsThe families used by text layers, weighted by how many characters they draw. Large text (28 px and up) counts as headings, small text as body. We offer the closest family from our catalog and always show the name we read.
LogosComponents, instances, frames, and groups whose layer name says logo, isotipo, imagotipo, wordmark, brand mark, or marca. Up to six, exported as PNG at twice their size, largest first.
Not importedVariables, whole components, spacing, effects, and anything in prototypes. The reading is a brand proposal, not a copy of the design system.

What we store, and how to cut it

From the connected account we store the read permission Figma gave us, encrypted, together with your Figma name and email so we can show you which account it is. With that we read only the files whose link you paste: we do not browse your files or write to any of them. Figma grants access for ninety days and we renew it ourselves before it expires.

Disconnect, next to your name, removes that permission on our side right away. To also cut it on Figma's side, go to Settings, Connected apps, and remove The Agentcy. The logos you imported are copied to your library only when you continue with them on screen, and the proposal keeps working after you disconnect: what stayed here are the colors, the fonts, and the logos you kept.

If something fails

You did not authorize access in FigmaYou closed the window or pressed Cancel. Nothing happened: press Connect Figma again whenever you want.
Your Figma connection expiredFigma grants access for ninety days and we renew it before it expires. If it expired anyway (you removed the app in Figma, or it went unused for a long time), press Connect Figma again.
Figma rejected the tokenIt expired, it was revoked, or it was pasted with a missing character. Generate a new one in Settings, Security, and paste it whole. Or connect Figma and forget about tokens.
We could not find the fileThe link is not a design file (FigJam boards are not read), or the account you connected cannot open it. Open it in Figma with that account first: if it opens for you, it opens for us.
The file is too largeWe read up to 20 MB of file structure. A file that holds every screen of a product goes over that. Duplicate only the design system pages into a new file and read that one.
Figma asked us to waitFigma limits requests per token. Wait a minute and try again.
Nothing was foundThe file has no solid fills, no text, and no layer named like a logo. Check that the colors are in styles or fills, not only in variables, and that the logo component's name says logo.
