How to compress a large brand PDF

Reduce an image-heavy brandbook without losing the colors, fonts, and logos your agent needs to read.

The step by step

  1. 01
Try the design app firstInDesign, Illustrator, and Figma can export for screen or web. This keeps text as text.
  2. 02
On Mac, use PreviewOpen the PDF, choose File > Export, then Reduce File Size in Quartz Filter. Save under a new name.
  3. 03
In Acrobat, reduce file sizeUse Reduce File Size or Optimize PDF. 150 ppi is enough for a screen manual.
  4. 04
Export only useful pagesBrand colors and fonts usually live in the first pages. Export those pages when possible.
  5. 05
Check the resultInspect color swatches and logos. Increase quality if they look dirty or banded.

Why it is so heavy

Uncompressed imagesA TIFF or 300 ppi PNG can weigh many times more than a JPEG.
Everything at 300 ppiThat resolution is for print. A screen PDF is usually clear at 150 ppi.
Embedded font familiesFonts are lighter than images, but keep them so brand references remain readable.
Hidden mockupsMockup scenes are often the heaviest pages and least necessary for extracting a palette.

What The Agentcy can read

The importer needs the first pages to fit in the browser tab. It looks for color swatches, font names, and logos. It does not need every campaign mockup.

If none of this is enough

Acrobat Pro has a deeper Optimizer panel. Keep an untouched original, export a copy, and verify it before replacing the file in your workspace.
